Blockchain Education 2026 is an academic and institutional forum dedicated to the future of cryptoeconomics and Web3. It bridges European universities, regulatory bodies and the digital finance industry to establish shared educational standards and research frameworks.

Yes. While rooted in academia, the conference is designed as a bridge between universities, regulators and industry. Day 2 focuses on practical Web3 technologies, DeFi, real-world asset tokenisation and the MiCA framework, which makes it relevant for industry professionals and policymakers.

The main conference language is English, so local and international participants can collaborate across all sessions.

Undergraduate, master’s and PhD students who present a paper take part with fully subsidised registration. You will need to provide a valid student ID or enrolment certificate. See Attend for what is included.

The Sofia Declaration is the central outcome of the conference: a formal academic commitment to shared European standards in blockchain and cryptoeconomics education. Adopted on Day 3 by participating universities and institutional partners, it sets a common framework for curriculum development, joint research and regulatory alignment.

The conference is hosted on the campus of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Sofia. Directions, public transport routes and transfer options are on the Venue and travel page.

Yes. The conference is fully hybrid. Presenting authors who cannot travel can present live through the virtual platform, and all paper presentations, plenary sessions and keynotes are streamed. Online participants can submit questions through the digital Q&A. Networking and the signing of the Sofia Declaration are best experienced on site.

The conference is organised by the Institute of Cryptoeconomics, Blockchain and Innovation (ICBI), a specialised academic and research institute within UNWE established by decree of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers, together with UNWE and the National Association for Blockchain and Innovation (NABI).
